So What's Next For The Focus?

The recent corporate restructuring at Ford suggests a plan to finally bring in a European replacement for the 2011 model year.

Charting The Changes: MK-I.75 Generation (2008 to current)

Here are just a few changes that have evolved through the life of the Focus production cycle:

2008
  • Sedan and Copue models only (both wagon and hatchback models have been discontinued)
  • Complete exterior reskin, incorporating the new Ford "bar grill" theme found in other Ford products
  • Redesigned interior with new fabrics and material
  • New base powerplant: 140-horsepower, 2.0L "Duratec 20" inline-4 engine
  • Usual reductions in noise, vibration and harshness, as well as improved driving dynamics and quality
  • Standard side-curtain airbags and front-seat side airbags
  • Tire pressure monitoring system
  • Gauges and controls now illuminate in "Ice Blue" versus "green" used in previous Focus models
  • Available colour-configurable lighting
  • Standard AM/FM radio with a single disc CD/MP3 player and auxillary input jack
  • SIRIUS satellite radio (Ford of Canada offers a complimentary 6-month subscription upon purchase or lease)
  • First Ford vehicle to be introduced with SYNC
  • Trim lines remain from previous model: S, SE, and SES
  • Discontinued Colours: Pueblo Gold, Dark Toreador, Aqua Blue, CD Silver, Liquid Grey, and Screaming Yellow
  • New Colours: Vista Blue, Light Ice Blue, Silver Frost, Vapor Silver
  • Discontinued ST performance sedan version
  • Sport Appearance Package offered, which includes 16-inch alloy wheels, various exterior and interior chrome and aluminim trim pieces, rear spoiler, sport bucket seats, and limited colours - Vista Blue, Silver Frost, Vermillion Red or Pitch Black
2009
  • Coupe model has slightly different front and rear bumper fascias, dark-chromed front grille and headlamps, sport-tuned exhaust (manual only) and different final-drive gear ratio (automatic only)
  • Rear seat headrests
  • SES trim line added offering 17-inch, painted dark-stainless aluminum wheels (similar to the ones offered on the 2003 and 2004 SVT Focus with the European Appearance Package), revised suspension settings (namely larger rear stabilizer bar) and bits
  • SEL trim line added to sedans; so now there are the following models: S, SE, SES and SEL
  • Coupes get the following models: SE and SES
  • Discontinued Colours: Vermillion Red, Kiwi Green, Silver Frost, Vapor Silver, Cloud 9 White, Pitch Black
  • New Colours: Amber Gold, Sangria Red, Brilliant Silver, Stirling Grey, White Suede, Black
2010
  • Compass now included on SEL and SES models
  • Addition of a Sport Appearance Package for SE sedan models (15-inch rims, fog lamps, and rear spoiler)
  • Discontinued Colours: Amber Gold, Brilliant Silver Metallic, Light Ice Blue, Vista Blue Metallic
  • New Colours: Natural Neutral Metallic, Blue Flame Metallic, Ingot Silver Metallic
